The Mila (pronounced My-luh) Denton Chapter book series is a humorous set of books about the difficulties of being a first grader. Trouble seems to follow Mila wherever she goes. This series is appropriate for ages 6 and up. Even though a child may not be able to read entirely on his or her own, chapter books are excellent for reading aloud by teachers and parents. One or two chapters at a time help children build vocabulary, retain and comprehend the story, and relate to the character’s experiences. Most children at this age level prefer books in a series, so they see the same characters book after book.
